Last summer, I found myself praying quietly that I would not spend Thanksgiving alone. Then an invitation arrived to join Afrikana in Senegal for their film festival. I did not realize until Enjoli shared the information that the dates were actually over the Thanksgiving holiday, and the timing felt like a clear response to what I had been praying for. Senegal held me in a way I was not prepared for, and the week unfolded with a kind of ease I had never known. We shared meals, laughter, late-night conversations, and an everyday care that felt like a natural instinct to everyone there.

My accommodations immediately set the tone for the week. The house felt warm and inviting. I stayed in the Terenga Townhouse, it was spacious and comfortable with room to gather, rest, and move with ease. The veranda quickly became my favorite place in the house, perfect for quiet morning coffee, late-night laughter with my housemate, or an unplanned afternoon nap when the day felt long.

Getting around was seamless because Enjoli is the kind of host who anticipates needs before anyone has to name them. Our days were thoughtfully planned with opportunities to experience both the cultural and everyday rhythms of Senegal.

IT WAS A PERFECT BALANCE.

Senegal was beautiful, but it was the hospitality, generosity, and sense of belonging that made the experience unforgettable.
