Nagadef!

Greetings! I'm Enjoli Moon, a Richmond-born and raised mother, daughter, sister, caregiver, and friend. At my core, I’m a Spirit-led explorer who loves bringing people together to celebrate global Black culture through stories, creativity, history, and cuisine. I work to create thoughtful and joy-filled spaces where people can connect, laugh, learn, and feel at home, no matter where we are in the world.

A Bit About Me

Over the past 25 years, my work has taken many forms, from a decade spent at the legendary Croaker’s Spot in Richmond’s historic Jackson Ward to founding the Afrikana Independent Film Festival in 2014—Virginia’s first Black woman-founded and led film festival dedicated to uplifting Black stories from across the diaspora. Along the way, I’ve had the joy of wearing many hats: founding Curator of Film and Special Programs at the Institute of Contemporary Art at VCU, inaugural chair of BLK RVA, and co-creator of community gems like Dîner en Blanc Richmond, Black Ass Field Trip, and, most recently, The JXN Project, which I built alongside my sister.

These endeavors have allowed me to pour into the Black creative ecosystem in ways I’ve been committed to for decades, but then 2020 hit, and like many of us, I was invited to slow down. I leaned into that invitation and began the slow but deliberate process of reevaluating my approach to work, relationships, time, and self. This ended up being a catalyst, and the years that followed have opened a path of greater opportunities for broader travel, deeper cultural connection, and a wholehearted embrace of rest, restoration, and curiosity.

In 2024, that curiosity led me to the beautiful West African country of Senegal, where I was invited for what was supposed to be a quick visit, which turned into a six-month stay.  That extended stay allowed me to host a couple of group trips for Richmonders who wanted to experience the Terenga for themselves, and somewhere between the shared meals and warm memories, Other Suns was born. I hope you’ll accept this invitation to journey with me as we build a bridge to connect with our global Black family.
